@Jawad: ;) in response to your snarky comment about showing off. I admitted to snobbery at the outset!!

You're right about a number of things and I think "Friends of T2F" will eventually pan out. It's a process and it will take a while. There is a lot of volunteer interest but not enough willingness to take responsibility. Have been disappointed so far but I recognize that it's the only way forward.

Thanks for taking the time out to provide constructive suggestions. Now, when will you move to KHI to take over ;)

I don't think this has anything to do with the quality of music. You just wanted to take this opportunity to show off your good taste in music. :)

This incidence is about the rowdy and criminal conduct of the "guests". Since you are building a civic society, I would advise that micro-managing is exactly the wrong solution. If I lived in Karachi, I would offer to organize a group of volunteers who take full ownership of event safety and security; something along the lines of "Friends of t2f". The board members have contributed enough already (thank you).

Other thoughts. 1. Have some process for renting space. All fees have to be paid at time of booking (or in advance). Electric equipment or trap sets (drums) require additional deposits, etc.

2. You don't need to waste time on live auditions. A band that does not have a demo tape, CD, URL is not ready to perform.

3. Learn to separate the roles of curator and site operations. This was not about bad music. Unless you are arguing that the bad music and bad behavior were somehow related. In that case I would like to argue that the laptop just walked out in disgust on hearing the first song.

Good luck. You folks are my heroes

@Zeeshan: The first thing we did was return the demo MacBook Air to iTech!! When we get a replacement Mac, we will secure it with a Kensington lock. Bands are now interviewed and have to do a demo performance before we schedule a gig. Everyone is far more vigilant and no events will take place without a Board Member being present. Hope that answers your question.

That's outrageous! And to think retrospectively, it all seems pretty convenient. The fight, the kids that had no money, and the theft. I hope t2f gets a replacement for that.

And I second auditioning the bands (or having a meet or two) before they actually play.

I think its shameful, i was there the other day and was wondering about the laptop missing, would have been a great help at the time. As Lyceum alumni I'm ashamed to hear that Lyceum kids are the prime suspects, sad but true.

Noone should be discriminated against but anyone who steps over the line as in this unfortunate incident should be treated very sternly at that moment, there isn't any harm in tossing out a ruffian every now and then Sabeen, I'm sure you'd find any number of volunteers to help you do it.

I have a solution. why not put a fund collection box for a mac so people can put in money, i would say an old IBOOK cost about 30000 at clifton center Itech macstore, I will pitch in 1000 from my pocket. After all its a place for the common good of people and not matter what we can't let miscreants take over it.

Thanks

Calling what happened on the 3rd "a music performance" is stretching (or ignoring) the facts, both - in terms of the music and the behaviour of the #@*&%^$ involved,

I am the founder of GadgetTrak ( http://www.gadgettrak.com) , we provide theft recovery software for mobile devices, including laptop. I am sorry to hear about the stolen laptop. Although we cannot help recover the device without our software on it, we can provide you a complimentary copy of our software if you have another Mac or plan to purchase another one.

Our Mac software utilizes the built-in iSight camera to capture video of thieves in the event your device is stolen.
