Join us at Faraar Gallery for an interdisciplinary show that combines fine art with performance art
4 Performances on Saturday 18th September and Sunday 19th September 2010
The Point of No Return is a modern retelling of the doomed Biblical romance between Samson and Delilah.
Through a combination of dance that incorporates modern, jazz, interpretive, and eastern contemporary styles, Rajab Ali Sayed and Suhaee Abro will re-enact the story of Samson, a mighty and powerful king who fell in love with the beautiful Delilah, who cuts off his hair and usurps his throne. The performance explores themes of love found, love lost, abuse, and the nature of destructive relationships.
Illustrating the dramatic nature of the performance is an exhibition of artwork featuring Rajab Ali Sayed and Marya Ahmed. Rajab and Marya are students of fine art at the National College of Arts in Lahore and have produced a body of work that centers on theatricality, dance and drama. Each piece serves as an illustration to the themes and undertones of the performance, ranging from the origin of love to the nature of the human condition.
