In Their Own Voice – Maniza Naqvi
Join us at T2F for an evening with Maniza Naqvi, author of the newly released novel, A Matter of Detail.
Maniza Naqvi was born in Lahore and has lived in Mangla and Tarbela, Lahore and Karachi. She currently lives in Washington DC. Maniza is the author of 4 published books, all of which have political themes. Her first novel, Mass Transit (OUP), was set in Karachi and reflected the political context of Pakistan. The second novel, On Air (OUP), was set in a late night FM station talk show. Stay With Me (SAMA and Tara Press India), is about a political prisoner who is interrogated and tortured. A Matter of Detail (SAMA), is Maniza’s latest novel. Satirical and political, the theme runs counter to the dominant narrative prevalent about Pakistan in the world today.
Maniza has contributed poems, short stories and plays to several anthologies. She is currently working on a book of short stories set in Sarajevo, Bosnia and has just finished work on a play, The Leftist and the Leader – an imagined conversation between Tariq Ali and Benazir Bhutto.
