Exploiting fear, hysteria and ignorance has been a lucrative business for the Islamophobia network in America. Join us at T2F for a conversation with Wajahat Ali as he traces the hatred and hostility towards Islam that has led to the discrimination, marginalization and exclusion of Muslims from America’s social, political, and civic life.
Wajahat Ali is an award-winning playwright, journalist, and writer, working as an attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the lead author of the investigative report ‘Fear Inc: Exposing the Islamophobia Network in America’ published by the Center for American Progress.
Wajahat’s writings on contemporary affairs, the media, pop culture and religion frequently appear in the Washington Post, The Guardian, Salon, Slate, McSweeney’s, Wall Street Journal Blog, CNN.com and The Huffington Post. He received the 2011 Otto Award for Political Theatre for his play ‘The Domestic Crusaders’, one of the first major plays about the Pakistani American experience. Wajahat is currently writing a TV plot about a Muslim American cop and is also working on his first film screenplay.
