T2F’s First Fridays Open Mic is a platform for musicians, poets, and comedians to perform, improvise and experiment in an informal setting.

Performers do not need to pre-register. Just show up with your voice, instruments, and props. Look for our host, Saif Ali, who will put your name down on the list. Musicians get 15 minutes/3 songs and everyone else gets 10 minutes.

Civic Hackathon Karachi

Monday, April 1st, 2013

Civic Hackathon KarachiBe it Karachi or Lahore, we have civic problems! Do you have ideas about how to fix things? Are you a strategist? Do you have skills? Do you like working with other intelligent people? Apply your geek or creative skills to transforming your city for the better.

We need to start thinking differently about public service and the institution of government if we want to make a change. Around the world, civic hackers are building open source solutions that enable city governments to be more open, efficient, and in tune with the needs of citizens.

Civic Hackathon Karachi will bring together software developers, designers, urban mappers, data analysts, and government information to reboot local services using web and mobile technology. Imagine a peace corps of geeks for civic betterment.

Join us at T2F for the weekend and learn how your tech, creative, and problem solving skills can transform your city.

During the 2 day Civic Hackathon, you will learn rapid skills via workshops, get mentored, have opportunities to network, and be fed meals, all for free thanks to our sponsors. All you need to do is bring your brain, skills, and enthusiasm.

Civic Hackathon Karachi will be led by Sheba Najmi who is a User Experience Designer and Product Strategist based in San Francisco. For nearly 7 years, she was a lead designer for Yahoo! Mail, with over 270 million users. As a Code for America 2012 Fellow, she led the development of open source projects, trained city employees, and organized the first ever civic write-a-thon in Honolulu. Sheba has MS and BS degrees in Symbolic Systems (Human-Computer Interaction) from Stanford University.

Applications for Civic Hackathon Karachi are now closed. We will be in touch with selected participants on 4th April 2013.
