Join director Assad Zulfiqar Khan for a screening of his short film, Haal, on life in the Zia years. Told from the perspective of a kathak dancer and a journalist, the film explores how the junta used Islam to cudgel the media and murder the arts. The screening will be followed by a Q/A session with the director where he will discuss his experience filming in Pakistan, the pitfalls that filmmakers will face, and what he foresees as the future of the industry.

An associate of the London Film School, Assad recently graduated with a Masters in Directing and Cinematography.
